Dr. James Wilkins, chief technology officer at Sensorin, lead’s the company’s science and engineering activities. Sensorin is developing a self-calibrating, solid state pH sensor designed to monitor in-line manufacturing processes, a fundamental requirement for the bioprocess industry’s Process Analytic Technology initiative. Dr. Wilkins brings to Sensorin 23 years of leadership in technology innovation for process development and downstream purification in biopharmaceutical production. Before joining Sensorin, Dr. Wilkins served as Genentech’s Director of Technology Assessment in process development. Earlier, he started Alexion Pharmaceuticals’ process development and manufacturing activities, ultimately serving as Vice president of Process Development and Manufacturing. He also worked for Otsuka America Pharmaceutical. Academically, Dr. Wilkins served on the chemical engineering faculty at Yale University and on the biophysics faculty at Johns Hopkins University. Wilkins received his B.A. in biology from the University of Texas, Austin and his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
