Bill Whitford is a Sr. Marketing Manager for Thermo Scientific Cell Culture and BioProcessing with 20 years experience in biotechnology product and process development. An invited lecturer at international conferences, Bill regularly publishes articles and book chapters on diverse areas of bioproduction, and was awarded a patent on cell culture media production. He recently published a series of chapters on bioprocess design in the March 2008 supplement of BioProcess International, and is now serving on the PQLI Biotechnology Team of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering. Bill’s teaching experience includes courses in genetics, biotechnology, and the baculovirus expression systems at such institutions as Utah State University and the State University of New York at Buffalo. Products he developed for Thermo Fisher Scientific include the defined and animal product-free hybridoma media CDM4NS0; Cell Boost and GS Max bioproduction supplements; and a number of aqueous lipid dispersions. He is currently managing Thermo Fisher Scientific’s process materials, equipment, and services supporting the bioproduction market.
